The great leap forward

The works in this exhibition were based upon a residency in Beijing, supported by Arts ACT. As an outsider to China, there was a struggle to understand and make sense of the societal disparities. Ceaseless streams of migrant workers moved across China in search of work while television reporters were triumphant at the successful space mission. This exhibition moves from depictions of those few who leave the earth far behind them and the mass who are left behind to look up at the stars.
