Pier-2  Artist in Residency Program Kaohsiung, Taiwan, 6 April - 4 June 2017

Till the sea brings me back, 3 June - 23 July 2017, Dayi Area C9 Warehouse

Using simple materials (salt, sugar and paper) this exhibition focuses the viewer's gaze back to the beauty that can be found in the everyday and the familiar. For Shellaine these shared and known materials become a way for her to connect her work across cultures. Sugar and salt crystals grow on paper waves and flowers - a reference to the history of Pier-2 and a physical manifestation of the scent of the sea. The finished works are both a record of her time in Kaohsiung and an offering to Matzu for recalling her love of the sea

Materials:  Paper, salt, sugar, shells, polystyrene and fishing line.  Dimensions: 1.5m (w) x 3m (h) x 3m (l).
